Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Our main office and manufacturing facility are both located in Hamilton, Ontario. Currently, we are not generally open to the public, but we may set up individual appointments. All products are manufactured in-house and shipped directly to customers. We look forward to connecting with you at conferences and trade shows.
E-commerce Information
Most of our products are in stock and available for purchase through our website. Inventory levels are listed for each item. Products manufactured in-house can also be ordered in bulk to meet your business needs.
Dive Harnesses
Harnesses are currently made to order. Orders are placed in a production queue and completed in the order they are received. We do our best to keep you updated as your order moves through the queue.
While our standard-sized dive harnesses fit 95% of divers so far, we have received a few requests for larger and smaller sizes. If you or one of your divers falls within these sizes, we are happy to adjust the harness size and build a custom harness to ensure diver safety and comfort.
Payment Information
For orders of 10 or more harnesses, a deposit is required before manufacturing begins. For smaller orders, an invoice will be issued as the harnesses near completion.
All invoices are issued in Canadian dollars and include applicable provincial taxes. International orders are not subject to Canadian taxes. Payment must be received prior to shipping and can be made via:
- E-transfer to admin@watersafetystop.ca
- Major credit cards (via secure payment link)
- Electronic funds transfer (EFT).
Shipping Information
If you have a preferred shipping account, we are happy to ship using your selected carrier. Otherwise, we will choose the most cost-effective shipping option at the time of invoicing and include it in the total.
All products are packaged using recyclable materials. Package weights may vary by order.
Where do you source products and materials?
We prioritize sourcing manufacturing supplies and commercial equipment within Canada whenever possible. When Canadian sourcing is not available, we carefully select high-quality international suppliers. For example, Green River knives are sourced from New Zealand.
What materials are used in the harnesses?
While we are actively working with Canadian manufacturers to produce additional components domestically, we currently source the following:
- Webbing is sourced from Alberta and rated over 5,000 lbs
- Canadian Thread is sourced with a head office in Quebec
- D-rings are rated for over 5,000 lbs of break strength
What is the lead time for harness manufacturing?
All harness orders are processed in a queue based on the date received. You will be provided with an estimated completion date; however, this timeline may vary. As a small business, we may occasionally experience delays due to supplier or equipment issues. We will keep you informed throughout the production process. Following our move to a dedicated manufacturing facility and team expansion at the end of 2025, we have significantly reduced lead times.
Testing, Certification, and Documentation
Our harnesses are designed to meet CSA Z275.2:20 standards and undergo third-party destructive testing.
Certificates of Test and Examination Results document:
- Overall Break Strength
- Duration of applied force at each D-ring
- Amount of force applied at each D-ring
These results are supported by a certification number through the Canadian Transportation Agency. To ensure CSA compliance, each harness is labelled with an individual serial number and the tested break strengths for that style.
Repairs and Replaceable Parts
We are often asked whether our harnesses can be repaired. Unfortunately, no repairs are possible.
Due to engineering and manufacturing processes, all harness components are integrated into the back piece, and disassembling it for repair requires the same level of labour and time as making a new harness. In addition, the significant wear and tear on a harness that requires repairs means the overall integrity has been compromised. For safety and compliance reasons, the harness would not meet CSA standards once dismantled unless it was sent for destruction testing, thereby eliminating the need for repairs.
The only replaceable aspect of the harnesses is the tank bands on the back of the Deluxe Harness, which are available with either plastic or metal buckles.
Warranty and Liability Information
Our harnesses undergo rigorous third-party testing to meet CSA Z275.2 standards and are certified for use in Canada. Both the complete harnesses and individual components are tested to ensure compliance. Documentation is available upon request.
